Following in the footsteps of Tibetans at home, a young Tibetan exile man on Friday set himself on fire in protest against China’s rule of Tibet outside the Chinese embassy in the Indian capital of New Delhi.
“Police grabbed 25-year-old Sherab Tsedor and put out the fire engulfing his trousers,” AP reported.
Tsedor, who is better known among friends as Migmar, reportedly shouted "Free Tibet, Stop Killing in Tibet," as officers took him in a jeep to a hospital.
Luckily, Tsedor suffered minor burns and his condition is described as “out of danger.” He is believed to be alone during the protest.
This year, eleven Tibetans – mostly monks and nuns - have committed self-immolations in Tibet demanding a free Tibet and the return of their exile spiritual head Dalai Lama. At least six Tibetans have died of the deadly protest while conditions of the other five are unknown, according to exile sources.
