གཅོད་པ། Choepa

  August 10, 2012 3:58 pm. Choepa, a 24 year old Tibetan youth, set himself on fire at 10:15 am (local time) today at Meuruma, Amdo in north-eastern Tibet, protesting against the Chinese government.

ཕྱི་ལོ་ ༢༠༡༢ ཟླ་ ༨ ཚེས་ ༡༠ ཉིན་གྱི་བོད་ནང་གི་སྔ་དྲོའི་དུས་ཚོད་ ༡༠།༡༥ ཙལ་ལ་བོད་མདོ་སྨད་རྔ་པ་རྫོང་རྨེའུ་རུ་མ་ཞང་། རུ་ཆེན་དང་པོའི་ཉག་སྐོར་མའི་ཕ་དཔའ་ལོ་དང་། མ་མ་སྒྲོན་གཉིས་ཀྱི་བུ་གཅོད་པ། རང་ལོ་ ༢༤ ཙམ་ཡིན་པ་ཁོང་གིས་རྨེའུ་རུ་མའི་ཞང་ཐོག་ནས་རང་ལུས་མེར་སྲེག་བཏང་སྟེ་འབར་མེ་དྲག་པོའི་ཀློང་དུ་ངོ་རྒོལ་སྐད་འབོད་བྱས་ཤིང་། སྐར་མ་ཁ་ཤས་ལས་མ་འགོར་བར་ས་གནས་སུ་ཡོད་པའི་ཉེན་རྟོག་པ་རྣམས་སླེབས་ཏེ་ཁོང་གི་ལུས་ལ་འབར་བཞིན་པའི་མེ་བསད་ནས་བཙན་ཁྲིད་བྱས་ཡོད་ཅིང་། དངོས་སུ་མཐོང་མཁན་ཁག་གཅིག་གིས་བརྗོད་པ་ལྟར་ན། སྐབས་ཐོག་དེར་འདས་གྲོངས་སུ་གྱུར་ཡོད་མེད་གསལ་པོ་མ་ཤེས་ཀྱང་མེས་ཚིག་པའི་རྨས་སྐྱོན་ཧ་ཅང་ཚབས་ཆེན་ཡིན་སྟབས། གསོན་པའི་རེ་བ་གཏན་ནས་མེད་ཚུལ་འདུག་ནའང་། ད་བར་ཚིག་ཐག་ཆོད་པོས་གྲོངས་ཡོད་མེད་འགྲེལ་བརྗོད་གནང་ཐུབ་མཁན་མ་བྱུང་ལ། སྐུ་ཕུང་གང་དུ་འཁྱེར་ཡོད་མེད་ཀྱང་གསལ་ པོ་ཤེས་རྟོགས་མ་ཐུབ། གནས་ཚུལ་བྱུང་མ་ཐག་ནས་རྨེའུ་རུ་མའི་ཞང་ཐོག་ཡོངས་སུ་དྲག་ཆས་ཉེན་རྟོག་པ་སོགས་ཀྱིས་ཁེངས་ནས་དམ་བསྒྲགས་ཤུགས་ཆེན་བྱས་འདུག་པ་བཅས། །

Choepa is the son of Palho (father) and Madon (mother). Meuruma is a small nomadic village in Ngaba, north-eastern Tibet’s Amdo region.

Eyewitnesses said, Chinese  police came to the place within seconds after the incident happened and started beating him while he was still engulfed in flames.

He was taken away by Chinese police in a military convoy. He was said to be seriously injured, therefore whether he is alive or not is still unknown.  His whereabouts is also unavailable.

Since 2009, a total of 47 Tibetans have set themselves on fire for the freedom of Tibet and the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.
